October 1, 2014
- Waking up way too early for my comfort lately, thanks to the boys getting up to go to school.
- Working into a school routine, but it still takes us all day it seems!
- Enjoying pancake breakfast on the 1st Wednesday of the month at the Y.
- Making a quick trip to Safeway for Zevia (Ginger Root Beer to calm my stomach) and fruit because that is all that sounds good to me after being sick. . . and later a tuna sandwich on toasted sprouted bread?
- Eating peanut butter, banana, apple, and honey sandwich (kids).
- Diffusing Peace & Calming to help the children focus on their school (wonderful stuff!).
- Moving along in Math Lessons for a Living Education.
- Taking over Malachi's logbook to help keep track of our day.
- Reviewing a new product - IXL.com Math and Language Arts.
- Keeping up on laundry (for now).
- Popping a balloon a day (with a treat inside!) to count down to the Feast of Tabernacles.
- Taking breaks throughout our day.
- Working on rhyming with Bo in All About Reading Pre-Reading.
- Struggling to get through our day at times.
- Pulling AAR 2 lessons out one week at a time is working well.
- Watching Bo set up his own math problems for me to solve from watching Mathtacular.
- Writing several reviews this week and working hard to get caught up so we can enjoy our time off for the Feast.
- Regulating downtime for the kids on the iPad, which means no movies or games - just educational apps.
- Receiving happy mail today ~ Teaching Textbooks Math 5 for Malachi.
- Taking selfies. (Elli) Love that one of her!
- Enjoying the rain. . . and soccer practice, even if it means watching from the car!
- Linking up with First Day!
What a wonderful day. I love this idea.

Looks like a fun, productive day.
ReplyDeleteWe are using FIAR for Grade 1 and find your ideas inspiring. Thanks. Can you post about essential oils? I see some pictures and references. Looking into it ourselves, but would love an honest opinion.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your pictures and reading your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous first day! Now for 30 more! Ha!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe love AAR here too...we are just finishing up level 1 and I need to place my order for Level 2.
I second the request for more information about the diffuser. I have admired them at Whole Foods but don't know much about them. Anything to help keep our homeschool day CALM and PEACEFUL. heehee.
Hope your week gets off to a blessed start. I really admire how you balance multiple ages and are so disciplined and thorough in your studies. It takes a lot of energy to keep little ones constantly focused and engaged and on track. ;-)
I love Thieves oil! I also love Young Living products! We used their diffuser and homemade Thieves oil last year and our mold problem in our home greatly decreased. I also rubbed the oil on the kids feet and it really helped with their breathing. I loved seeing your day in photos. It was also encouraging to know that we're not alone in trying to get a good routine down, or that some days we struggle to just get through. Hag Succot Sameach from Israel!
ReplyDeleteWow! Looks like such a fun week! Man I love October! I see your diffuser running <3 Lately we've been diffusing Orange, Cinnamon and Clove. Love that combo! I am excited to get my hands on nutmeg this month :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, busy day. I'm happy to feel tired for you just from looking at your pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Amber on the Mountains. It's one of my favorite books. I use to read it to the kids all the time when they were little. I'd always cry toward the end, haha. Now it's in storage (our garage).
ReplyDeleteOne time I let Ethan take the camera and later when I was looking through the pics there were some selfies. So cute.
Blessings,
Linda<
Aw, so sweet! I had never heard of it before (as many of the books we have rowed) before I discovered FIAR. I'm so glad I did! I've seen some of the selfies on your blog - so cute, I agree!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I woke the next day and though there was no way I could do that all over again, LOL! Well, the photographing part, anyways! :) Thankfully, we have had some pretty good days since - I think we are getting into a groove! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my orange, cinnamon, and. . . nutmeg, too, to get here! Ok, well, ALL of them to get here! I am out of several already and running low on the others. Such a wonderful, smelly good way to be healthy. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool, Julia! Thieves was my first oil to ever try! Wonderful stuff! Aw, we struggle too, my friend. Hope you have a most wonderful and joyous Feast!
ReplyDelete30 more, haha! You mean I have to do that again? :) We are shooting for 4 days a week, so 16 a month is my goal.;-) I would love to share more! My diffuser is from Young Living and a part of their Premium Starter kit and comes with the Everyday Oils kit ~ I went for it because I thought it was such a great deal to get the Everyday oils + a disffuser + StressAway + samples! I will share more soon! I saw both requests and started a post about Peace & Calming! It's become such a favorite in our home.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! It does take lots of energy - some days more than I have, but I'm finding that delaying my shower for a mid morning bath does wonders for my day! :) That, and a quiet time after lunch! It makes our day go longer, but spreading it out a little helps. :)
Thanks, Jenny! I'm honored that you are reading! So thankful to have you for a friend!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I would love to! I started a post as soon as I saw your request ~ so happy you asked! :) I think they are pretty wonderful! If you have any questions as I begin to share, please don't hesitate to ask. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I always feel better when I have a productive day, but they don't happen every day. Thankfully, they are happening more and more as we get into a good rhythm. :)
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest it, but your blog is gone ~ did you remove it? I always enjoy clicking over whenever you leave me a comment.
ReplyDeleteI did have to erase my blog after being hacked again. I moved my blog to ~ http://ablessedhomeschoollife.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking,
Blessings, Dawn

ReplyDeleteI love your picture posts. I really need to try to take more, especially since I now have the ease of it with a new phone. How do you take screen shots of your phone btw??
