I would and have used Before FIAR with a 5 year old for K. It was a wonderful year! I did add quite a bit to beef it up for my 5 year old, but it turned out great. I just posted how I did this for Bo for The Carrot Seed (http://www.delightfullearning.net/2015/07/the-carrot-seed-b4fiar-ladybugs.html) To that, I would add All About Reading Pre-Reading or Level 1 if your daughter is ready and a K level math. :)

If you are not interested in finding activities to enhance Before, I'd go with FIAR. I did FIAR Volume 1 and 2 with my daughter for 4K and 5K and because I was also teaching a 1st/2nd grader son, I felt it was always more geared towards my son. So, I added in Sonlight P 4/5 for her and it was wonderful. Then we added in rows to go along.

Sure hope that helps a little!

I am getting ready to embark on some bFIAR with my 3 year old and possibly 2 year old tag a long and maybe even a 5 year old tag a long :) I was wondering if the order of the book matters? I gather that for FIAR, volumes 1-3 are interchangeable but I wasn't sure about bFIAR. Love your posts by the way. They are so helpful for someone like me just getting started (and I imagine they are helpful for seasoned rowers as well)!

Hi Meg, book order does not matter! I tended to row by season for B4 (for example, Play with Me is a great late summer/early fall book!) and by season and/or country/region for FIAR. Please see my post here to see how I did that: http://www.delightfullearning.net/p/4k-and-1st-grade-2011-2012-curriculum.html

Thanks so much for letting me know you appreciate my posts. I appreciate that! ♥
