This week: List things you do when you (and/or a family member) are sick.
Things we do when sick:
- Scan - to see what supplements and oils we need
- Rest - make a bed on the couch or living room floor, rest, sleep, read a book/watch a movie, stay home as much as possible
- Nourish - chicken soup, bone broth (avoid milk and dairy)
- Hydrate - hot toddy (hot water, apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon essential oil), ginger ale or peach juice from canned peaches when trouble keeping foods down
- Support - immune boosting oils and supplements
- Comfort - diffuser, tissues, blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, warm bath
- Clean - Wash light switches, handles and doorknobs
- Pray!
Supplements and oils we go for:
- Immune support - Thyme, Thieves, Clove, Longevity, Vitamin C, Elderberry syrup, Echinacea Tea
- Throat support - Thieves (dropped in the back of the throat or via the spray), Lemon and Purification rubbed externally
- Respiratory support - RC, Eucalyptus radiata, Peppermint, Pine (diffused, steam inhalation, or topically)
- Tummy support - Digize, Peppermint (internally or topically)
- Ear support - Melrose and Lavender (diluted 2:10 with carrier oil and dropped on cotton ball and placed in ear, then rubbed on external ear)
- Fever support - Peppermint on feet
- Sleep support - Lavender, Cedarwood, Orange
- Eye support - colloidal silver
My husband's list is short: sleep, oils, and leave him alone. He doesn't like to be pampered at all.
We used to get sick all the time and it would last for 3 weeks or longer as it made its way through family members. We now take oils and supplements, get plenty of sunshine/vitamin D, take fermented cod liver oil, and make healthy lifestyle choices, so if/when we do get sick our recovery is much quicker!
Great list! A list that I am sure that I will refer to in the future, but so grateful that we have been quite healthy ourselves :) I just need to get the pressures in my ears to behave. My husband picked a bunch of wild elderberries, but he ate them...ha! I guess I'm going to have to buy some.
ReplyDeleteHow neat that you have wild elderberries! ((((Hugs))) and continued prayers for your ear pressure. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThannks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and son are sick right now, so this is fresh in my mind! Fermented cod liver fish oil is a daily supplement for us along with probiotics. We like using elderberry syrup on a daily basis starting Fall. Just finished the bottle and need to buy more. During sickness we do a ton of stuff, but I don't like to be without: raw, local honey;black seed; apple cider vinegar; Pure Synergy's Pure Radiance C; hot teas of sorts. I like to add raw garlic to the kid's food. When very sick,I've crushed raw garlic and swallowed it (w/little water). Sore throat - my children are good at gargling sea salted water. I gargle apple cider vinegar straight & swallow(got this from Wellness Mama site). Bad cough - homemade cough syrup from Mommypotamus site. We also prefer to run a regular humidifier in bedrooms.
Serenity, I ove that you are using natural Vitamin C, with whole food ingredients! I buy whole food supplements, but I just listened to a podcast on why ascorbic acid is not good for you - I didn't know that! I have gotten lazy about using fresh raw garlic. I used to have a press but it broke so I have been using the frozen garlic cubes. I used to make a garlic and olive oil treatment (GOOT) to place on the chest before I started using essential oils - good stuff! I have never gargled ACV though!! I raised my boys on gargling with salt water, but haven't done it in a long time. I need to go check out the recipes you mentioned - thank you for sharing! :)
DeleteSeems like we all do pretty much the same thing! Rest, relax, nourish, and cuddles.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a mom thing to love on our little ones. ♥
