Building the House

"Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." Psalm 127:1

I am so grateful for the leading of our Heavenly Father and the help He has provided to build our dream homestead! He never ceases to amaze me in what a wonderful provider He is! And Luke's family never ceases to amaze me in how giving they are of their time and resources! We feel so blessed to have them!

Luke and Jordan have spent a lot of time up there these past couple weeks, and have only been home two short days of that time. They are both learning so much about building and working hard!

And I am happy to finally share some pictures of the progress we are making on our home in Montana!

Walk-out basement.

The backhoe tipped over on its side. This was quite an adventure getting it back up and I just know there was a purpose for this happening. Through this experience, Luke got to know the owner of the backhoe (who was not happy at all) a little better and they met "Little Joe" the driver of the tow truck. I think the whole incident was a testimony of our family's character.

Jordan was fascinated by how Uncle Charlie reseated the tire that came off the rim! He used a match and lighter fluid, which created enough pressure to pop it back on and then they filled the tire back up with air and got back to work!

Basement walls are up and floor joists are being installed.

This is the french drain system that runs around the house. It is placed in a trench, covered with gravel and then dirt is back filled around it. When water drains towards the house, it will flow into the drain system and away from the house, protecting it.

As you can see, we have made a lot of progress! I look at that picture and am so amazed that our Heavenly Father has brought us this far! And I am still in awe that we are able to do this debt free. When we sold our house to get out of debt, we took a step of faith that He would bless us for honoring Him in this area, and He is!

I was not going to make collages originally because I had so many pictures! So, I made a movie that includes the rest of the pictures.

We have one more week to get the house dried in (finish the walls and install the roofing, windows, and siding). Our wood cook stove came this week also! I will share about that and our composting toilet soon! *Ü*

  2. Awesome!!! :-) There has been a lot of progress. I hope the next phase gets finished in another week, as you hope. You all will be so happy when it's finished.
