Homeschool Highlights {Catching Up}

This will be a quick catch up on sharing what's going on in our homeschool!

In order:

  • "Ancient Roman" mid-day meal of grapes, rosemary crackers, sliced cheese and herbed goat cheese. Thanks to my friend, Heather in The Dalles, for getting me hooked on goat cheese! She served it to us when we came through on our way to the Oregon coast and I couldn't get enough of it. Hers was homemade. Mine is from Costco and seasoned with oregano, garlic, salt and pepper. You can see that Elli loves it, too!

  • Elli reading to Malachi.

  • Nathan reading a book from Core 100.

  • Malachi doing All About Reading. He was such a good sport to let me photograph him for my review.

  • Elli doing All About Spelling 1.

  • Elli working on her writing at the dentist office. (I had pics of her doing her math, too, but couldn't find them).

  • And Dylan doing an experiment for Physical Science. He is magnetizing a paperclip using a battery (making an electromagnet).

  1. Love those big bunches of grapes!! And I'm not sure about goat cheese. I actually REALLY love the cheese on my salad at the Greek Restaurant last month. I think it was Feta. And that's goat cheese, right? And mom LOVES Heather's cheese! They are looking forward to getting some more of it in April when they go stay with them after church.

It's so great to see your kids reading. I've been able to catch my Seth doing that more and more. Hard to believe I had issues getting him to read anything a year ago! LOL!

  2. Well, I had to google it! From Wiki: "According to the relevant EU legislation, only those cheeses produced in a traditional way in some areas of Greece (mainland and the island of Lesbos), and made from sheep's milk, or from a mixture of sheep and goat's milk (up to 30%) of the same area, may bear the name "feta"." So, sort of!

Isn't is amazing what a difference a year makes! Yay!

  3. Lots of learning! I'll bet it feels good to be almost caught up. I am still over 6 weeks behind in posting our homeschool. I need to have my migraines and the flu bug leave so that I can finish my "to do" list :) Slowly, but surely!

Love the book time cuddled under a blanket! We spent the entire day under blankets.

  4. Yes! Feels good to be a little closer. I still have 3 weeks of Bo's school to share, but I haven't started yet, so I feel I have some wiggle room! I hope your migraine and sickness are gone soon and that you are able to have a productive week. Yes, slowly, but surely, after you and your family are cared for. :) Those cuddles under blankets are good for you!

  6. Thanks, Abby! My kiddos thought it was too simple! They asked when we were going to have our "real" Roman meal, haha! That's what I get for going all out on our Greek meal. :)

  8. I'm going to double check in case somehow I've missed it, but I'm really looking forward to reading your plan with Malachi and Eliana.

It's that time of the year where I feel like I'm not doing enough. This year I'm feeling that way about Joe :(. Currently I'm doing FIAR with all three boys and loving it. Beefing it up a lot for Joe, but wondering if it's really enough...sigh. Always second guessing.

  9. I guess I never really did a post on what we are doing! Elli asked me the other day why we didn't have a Box Day, too. :( I'm hoping to make up for it with a fun school party on Medieval Times. :D We are doing Core C. I shared a little in my Let's Click post this week (where I am putting homeschool highlights for now, unless I have a theme to share).

This is always a hard time of year... you are doing enough! I'm thinking about doing FIAR with Mali and Elli this coming year. I'm planning to finish Vol 3 this spring and/or summer and do Vol. 4 this fall (instead of Sonlight). As long as you are adding in LA and Math, and maybe Science, I think it is enough!
