Chapter 17: Showing What Happened on the Voyage from Singapore to Hong Kong.
Fix suspects that Passepartout has guessed his identity and purpose!
Chapter 18: In Which Phileas Fogg, Passepartout, and Fix Go Each About His Business.
Bad weather causes some delays, but an alternate means of conveyance is found. Fogg discovers that Aouda’s relative no longer lives in Hong Kong.

  • Writing: Jules Verne once again shows his mastery of creating meaning through the names that he assigns to both people and things! Imagine a boat named the Tankadere. Can you visualize it? Draw a picture of how you envision the Tankadere to have appeared. Use the description on page 161 to help you.

  2. Thank you for sharing about these trail guides! I don't think I would have looked at them further without hearing about them from you. I visited their booth at our homeschool conference and was hooked!

    We are going to use the US one next year (though my daughter really wanted to do the world). We are studying Presidents though so the US is a good fit!
