Day in the Life: Friday

I was definitely up too late last night and had a hard time getting up this morning! Woke with a headache too. Luke got up with Boaz about 7:30 (I was up with him between 4 and 7). It is almost 8:00 and I have read my email and a post that I had pulled up just before I went to bed and the boys are making toast in the kitchen - sourdough. It smells good. This was a "short" week, but it feels like a long week already. I have lots of Five in a Row activities left to do and I don't think we will get to them all today. I can sneak a few things in on Sunday, and plan to! I'd like to finish this row up by then and not extend it another week.

Today is prep day and a light school day. We will finish up our school this morning, clean house and I will prepare our meals for Sabbath tomorrow. We also have plans to visit a farm, so lots to squeeze in in one day! I will start by making bread this morning and grilling chicken for parmesan chicken pasta. Then I will start school with Malachi. Eliana's school today will be Five in a Row activities only.

Eating toast.

Jordan's school books on the kitchen counter.

Luke reading Augustus Caesar's World (MFW History) to the boys.

8:00-9:00 Start bread, Mr. Gibson is doing MFW with Nathan and Dylan, Jordan is doing Science, Fallacy Detective and LL (he was up at 7:00 doing school - he is fairly consistent with this!); Daily Science with Malachi, finish "My Weather Book" with Mali and Elli. Mr. Gibson starts on laundry with Boaz. Bread is rising (1st rise).

Malachi reading on of our weather books - we won't get to this one today!

Schooling in pajamas. =)

9:00-10:00 Grill chicken and cube. Nathan clean kitchen, I clean the bathroom, Dylan working on school (LL, 6-Traits Writing), Jordan cleaning his room, finish school with Mali and Elli (for now). Jordan still cleaning his room, Nathan doing science.

Hanging up his clean clothes - the boys put away their own laundry!

Nathan working on his Critical Thinking.

10:00-10:30 Get Mali started on writing lesson, nurse Bo while reading 2 chapters in the Bible, lay Bo down for a nap.

10:30-11:30 Shape bread, make cinnamon rolls; Mali is working on his writing, find a recipe for monkey bread for all the extra dough I made; Elli drawing; Jordan on computer; Nathan helping me in the kitchen, Dylan finishing his school; I water my wilting plant and pick off the dying leaves, then bake bread.

11:30-12:00 Make monkey bread and clean up . . . I should mention that the monkey bread carmel sauce leaked through the pan and covered the bottom of my oven. So, I took the bread out and put on the self-clean. . . and the oven lit on fire and then smoked us all out of the kitchen! I set up fans to blow the smoke out. The whole house smells like burnt sugar! The monkey bread was okay, though. =)

12:00-1:00 Lunch break (leftovers), I sneak in a short bible study, Mr. G is working upstairs (he is normally not here on Fridays to help, but helps us deep clean on Sunday instead. This week he has a training all day on Sunday, so will be on our own), Mali and Elli make themselves a snack - plain yogurt flavored with strawberry jam.

1:00-2:00 Luke is outside working on the trucks, baby is in stroller while he works; I think about what we will row next week, then clean; boys do their chores.

Cleaning out their boxes is a weekly chore.

Dylan find his missing math notebook! It was BEHIND his box,  imagine that!

Jordan cleaning the living room - and vacuuming with a broken vacuum.

2:00-3:00 Get ready to go, give Bo a bath and nurse, Luke dress Bo while I get ready (get dressed, pull my hair in a pony tail), boys chores; decide that I will row. . .

Three Names next and continue on with our weather unit! I love how this worked out. . . Three Names is next on my projected list AND we will study tornados! Tornados will be an extension of our weather unit. I may even throw in the lesson on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs that we didn't get to. =) It is not necessary, but it is NICE to tie in one row with another - somehow. I am sure that is just my little quirk though!

3:00-5:00 Field trip, take a loaf of bread for the family we are visiting, pick up milk on way home. . .

When we rowed How to Make An Apple Pie and See the World, I really, really wanted to visit a farm! Now, we had the chance to visit a small, but a very busy little farm.

5:00-6:00 Make our FIAR recipe, make dinner (which includes enough for leftovers tomorrow) and do a last minute tidy.

6:00-7:00 Dinner and clean up, nurse Bo and lay him down for bed at 6:45.

7:00-8:00 Family time for erev Shabbat!

{Our Sabbath looks very much like our rest day this week. This Sabbath, Luke took the kids to the park and gave me a much needed quiet time!}

On Sunday, Luke works all day.  I will plan for our next row, finish up any leftover projects and do housework.

Here is how I planned for our row this week, and our row!
