The Adventures of Munford ~ Munford Meets Robert Fulton {Review}

I had the opportunity to review the newest book in The Adventures of Munford series by Jamie Aramini.  The adventure novels star Munford, a water droplet. Well, actually he is a water molecule. He appears as rain, snow, sleet or steam and travels the world looking for excitement and adventure. And he teaches children about history, science, and geography in a very fun way!

Through Munford's adventures, we see history from a different point of view, literally.

I had the pleasure of reviewing Munford Meets Robert Fulton.

About the book:
"In this adventure, Munford (everyone’s favorite water molecule!) meets a young boy in colonial America with a knack for inventing. The boy grows up to become one of the world’s leading inventors, Robert Fulton. Join Munford and Fulton as they race to create the world’s first commercially successful steamboat. Along the way, you’ll meet a colorful cast of characters, from Benjamin Franklin to Napoleon Bonaparte. This exciting story takes you from a fledgling young nation, to the rivers of France, and back again!" ~ Jamie Aramini
This is a silly story, but full of interesting facts about history that are told in a fun and memorable way. The concept of using a water droplet is unique because a water molecule really could witness important historical events (metaphorically speaking!).

Written at a 3rd - 5th grade reading level, it was a quick and easy read. I think it would work perfectly for a read-aloud for my 1st grader. In fact, I think it will go-along great with our row of Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. It will be a great way to introduce the concept of steam power and it will be a wonderful review of the countries we have studied!

Published by Geography Matters, each book sells for $8.95. Also available in The Adventures of Munford Series is The Klondike Gold Rush, The American Revolution, and Munford Meets Lewis and Clark. From now until the end of October, you can get 4 books for the price of 3 with the coupon code 4MUNFORD43.
