Project 52 {Week 24}

Our life

One week at a time

Twenty-twelve

Week 24

June 10th - 16th.

This week. . .

  • We were blessed to celebrate another year of life with Luke, missed Dylan, had little ones with colds and fevers and me with a lingering cough (cold is much better, though), had "box day" with Mali and Elli (nothing fancy, just books and italian cream sodas, but I did get a cute pic of Elli who had fallen asleep with The Complete Book of Curious George) and we ended the week with a beautiful Sabbath hike and a trip down memory lane.

Jordan driving Dylan half way for the week. Dylan spent the week with his dad and attended Challenger Soccer camp.

Inspired by this Ultimate S'more Cake, I gave it a try for Luke cuz I thought he would like it.

(I frosted it with chocolate frosting.) He loved it! {I didn't!}

Royal Mail!  We were sent postcards, stamps, and photos from the UK

for our row of Mr. Gumpy's Motor Car. It was so fun to receive it and will be a special addition to our album.

Thank you, Fay! :)

Frozen strawberry lemonade.

Malachi's strawberry loot. He is diligent to count them each day (but doesn't always get there first!)

When Nathan helps me with Boaz, that is the first place they go. Bo loves to pick strawberries.

At the fountains.

The Y gave us tickets to see Suessical, Jr. at the WYO Theatre.

Oh the thinks you can think! :)

I took Jordan, Malachi and Eliana.

It started 30 minutes before we get ready for bed. . .

and they barely made it through.

We were in a hurry to get there, so I took a pic afterwards. . .

they were pretty tired and ready for bed! I took them to get an ice cream

before heading home, but Elli was too tired to eat hers (and was quite warm, too).

Jordan snapped this photo of me as we were leaving.

On Sabbath, we took a drive up the mountain (about a 45 mile drive).

This is where Luke and I were married. . . almost 9 years ago.

We have an anniversary coming up and I wanted a walk down memory lane.

The kids picked wildflowers for my "bouquet."

Yellow daisies and wild bluebells.

Wild lupine.

Me and my love.

I love this photo because of Elli peeking up at us (my eyes are closed as usual, lol).

. . . to higher ground, my prayer:

"Higher Ground"

I m pressing on the upward way

New heights I'm gaining every day

Still praying as I onward bound

"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."

Chorus:

Lord, lift me up and let me stand

By faith on heaven's table land

A higher plane than I have found

Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay

Where doubts arise and fears dismay

Tho' some may dwell where these

abound

My prayer, my aim is higher ground.

I want to live above the world

Tho' satan's darts at me are hurled

For faith has caught the joyful sound

The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height

And catch a gleam of glory bright

But still I'll pray till heaven I've found

"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."

Then we drove to Black Mountain Road and had a picnic and played by the creek.

And went for a hike. . .

Up Black Mountain Lookout Trail {or so we thought!}.  We didn't find the Lookout

and had an adventure driving on some back road on the mountain

(that eventually led us to Tie Flume and back to the main road.)

It was a beautiful day! We even saw snow and the boys threw snowballs at each other on a second attempt on the Lookout Trail (while I waited with the little ones who played in the creek with Nathan).

It's a beautiful new week and I've been thinking about an article I read in Vertical Thought, a magazine for teens from our church. It was about making your "perfect" girl or guy list, then writing what his or her list would look like and then striving to BECOME that person. I was thinking in terms of who I am now and who I want to be. . . and then I thought in terms of my week ~ what if I had a vision for what I wanted my week to look like? And then lived it out?  I think this may be a part of cultivating a good life!
