My Life {11/11/11}

In my life this week…

I've been reconnecting with old friends and "decluttering" my kitchen.

In our homeschool this week…

I officially declared it a planning week! I am not ready to move on to our next row. So, we just did the basics this week with a few fall activities.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to YHVH, and not to men;" Col. 3:23

I am inspired by…

the fall and Thanksgiving crafts I have been pinning on Pinterest.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Library, craft store, grocery store, bank, and Homeschool P.E. at the Y. Boys have been playing soccer and lifting weights at the Y.

My favorite thing this week was…

Printing, cutting and getting things ready for our row of Cranberry Thanksgiving. Next week, we will focus on the Pilgrims coming to America, their first year, and their harvest celebration.

What’s working/not working for us…

Luke has been taking Dylan to work with him in the mornings for a couple hours each day. During this time, he can work without any distractions, and it seems to be helping him get his school work done.

Questions/thoughts I have…

Wondering how long I should save the older boys school work and workbooks. . .stuff is piling up around here!

Things I’m working on…

Five in a Row planning!

I’m reading…

Blogs! Lots of wonderful blogs out there. =) I don't always get to comment, but I enjoy reading.

I’m cooking…

My fridge was oh, so bare at the beginning of the week and I was determined to eat the last of what was in there and from our pantry this week. I did make it to the store after all for a turkey sale, fruit, veggies and dairy.

My menu this week:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Bean tostadas with sour cream and salsa

  • Wednesday: Chicken fried steak w/ biscuits and brown gravy

  • Thursday: Hot open-faced turkey sandwiches on sourdough with turkey gravy

  • Friday: Turkey enchiladas

I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and scones twice this week and made pnut butter leaf cookies for school.

For Sabbath:

  • Breakfast: Cinnamon Rolls or Monkey Bread

  • Lunch and Dinner: Turkey Sandwiches

I’m grateful for…

the internet, my computer, my friends online - their support and encouragement, accountability, my rowdy kids and a warm house, the love and support of my husband, the new space in the school closet where Boaz can play while I work on the computer, and of course, that my Heavenly Father loves me and is growing me.

I’m praying for…

  • a friend's mom who is ill

  • a friend's sister who is about to give birth ~ she had a baby girl!

  • a friend's pregnancy - that baby stay head down and that plans for an assisted homebirth go through ~ baby is head down, still praying to hear from the midwife.

  • a friend who is a new mama! Congrats again, Cara!

  • Jordan's truck to sell ~ maybe. He might try to make some money with it first (selling firewood).

  • my kids - that they learn to be content with what they have.

  • me, that I can pull it together a little more during the day.

Some fall leaf fun with Boaz.

Bo's first time in a pile of leaves.

He enjoyed crawling through them and picking up leaves.

"Playing ball" with Dylan

Throwing leaves in the air!

Love how much he loves him. ♥
