Homemade Shampoo

My recipe:

1. Heat over medium heat:
1/2 cup grated castile soap
1 quart of water

2. Mix until smooth:
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 cup cold water

3. Pour #2 into #1 and stir until thickened.

4. Then add:
1/4 cup glycerin
1 T Coconut Oil
1 T Jojoba oil
A few drops of essential oil
(You could also use aloe vera, vitamin E oil, etc.)

5. Pour into a recycled pump or shampoo bottle.

I like it! It is nice and creamy and . . .thick! I think I will use less oil (coconut and/or jojoba) next time. My hair felt soft, but a little oily - not enough that I won't use it though!

The cost is relatively inexpensive when you consider that a bar of castille soap is 99 cents, and cornstarch is cheap. . . the inital cost of the coconut oil ($11), jojoba oil ($10) and glycerin ($8) was more, but considering how little of it you use, it is cost effective.

*Update: This was really too oily to use daily and I am looking for a new recipe. If you have one that works, please let me know!
